Our first reaction is that one or two individuals involved in an
political forum on the internet are complaining because they cannot
defend
their positions, and believe the only way they can win is to censor
political speech by complaining to you that it's "spam". It also
might be
people who're attempting to get revenge because we banned them from
one or
more of the forums.
However, it would be greatly appreciated if you could be more specific
regarding this complaint.
As you most likely know, the maximum number of messages which can be sent
from christianparty.net is 250 per day. And this is defined as each
address on one list being one email. For example, if one email is
sent to
more than 250 people, the maximum limit for the day is exceeded and the
message will bounce [or at least we receive a message that it bounced].
Do you define "spam" as one email message per day to 250 different
people?
The list size is only 100 to 150, so even if we met the maximum limit
[which
does not happen that often], only a few emails might be sent to one
address
daily, which doesn't seem to be worth complaining about.
None of these messages are instant messages. If they're ending up on
newsgroups, they're being relayed from someone else, because this
address is not subscribed to any newsgroups.
That email address is also subscribed to a number of Yahoogroups, but we
administer all these Yahoogroups which require people to opt in [read:
subscribe to them themselves]. Each message sent out has clear
instructions
on how to unsubscribe, and we continually ban people who attempt to
disrupt
the forum. It's literally impossible for someone to be spammed from a
Yahoogroups unless they actually WANT to be.
The last possibility are several opt in email forums and bulletin boards
which altogether might have 6,000 subscribers, which average 2 emails per
month. But this is most likely not the source of the complaint as
it's been
several months since any messages were sent to those lists [unless people
who've subscribed have found a way to spam it, which we have no
indication
of].
Lastly, with regard to the legality of the forums--it's the very
PURPOSE of
these forums to UPHOLD the law, and specifically to UPHOLD the US
Constitution, as well as God's Law. I wouldn't doubt that there are
many on
the forums who would find this intimidating--but then doesn't that
make THEM
the criminals?
Because of this confusion, we will cease and desist from sending *any*
from that address until you confirm the nature of the complaint. So it
would be greatly appreciated if you would respond quickly, as this is
really
a bad time to interrupt the forum.
