"if gays want to marry it will happen in time!!!they
should not be hated for that, and it isn't for anyone one
to judge them for that!!! "You claim to be a
"Christian"?If so, then please quote Scripture, not this
disinformation. But I tell you that it will be more
bearable for #### on the day of judgment than for you,
Matthew 11:24 There shall be no #### of the daughters of
Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.
Deuteronomy 23:17And there were also sodomites in the
land: and they did according to all the abominations of
the nations which the LORD cast out before the children
of Israel. 1Kings 14:24They die in youth, and their life
is among the sodomites. Job 36:14`And a man who lieth
with a male as one lieth with a woman; abomination both
of them have done; they are certainly put to death;
their blood is on them. Lev 20:13
"It was Thomas Jefferson who said, "All, too, will bear
in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of
the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be
rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess
their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to
violate would be oppression". I don't think I can say it
better. Taking away out equal rights is wrong, and
according to Jefferson, qualifies as oppression."But
Thomas Jefferson never would have approved gay
"marriage". He proposed castration for sodomites. You're
taking this statement way out of context. You might just
as well make the same claim for murderers, who after
all, are only a minority group.

What are the Protesters protesting? Do they NOT believe
in the rule of law? That people's vote shouldn't count?
The PEOPLE of California have spoken, "NO to gay
marriage". Do they really want a system of laws other
than by vote of the people (or their elected officials)?
Should 40+% of the people not acknowledge the President
just because they voted for someone else?
i would like to make a change to the constitution: any
person who was born with freckles or has a sibling does
not have the right to marry the person they love. its
something that you cant change, but its something that
you choose to have.

Movn1 - did the public at large get to vote on your
marriage, and other personal matters? I maintain - who a
person marries is a personal decision, not to be voted
on. The idea that "majority rules" in the arena of
personal decisions is un-American and offensive. A
Nation of Busy Bodies.
Strange. . .For Ever in Blue Jeans seems to think sexual
orientation is a CHOICE, and therefore deserves no legal
rights. Of course, we KNOW "religious" belief is a
CHOICE, but it deserves legal rights. Then For Ever
launches into a heterosupremacist rant about how only
straight people can dictate "rights" to others - if gays
get married, it "forces" their sexual habits out in the
open - apparently straights don't do that on each other
or the gays.
The actions of those for gay marriage are
atrocious...you want it, organize and get the vote out.
You are just alienating all the rest of us.
For Ever in Blue Jeans - unless you, yourself, have
CHOSEN to be gay, I think I'd keep that kind of
speculation to yourself, because you have no way of
really knowing. Nobody is forcing "sexual habits" on
anyone. It's none of your business. If a person is a
law-abiding, contributing, tax paying citizen of the
United States of America, you shouldn't be concerned
about their marriage or sexual inclinations. If it's
just the "idea" of what someone may or may not be doing
in the privacy of their own home, welllll...that's not
anyone's problem but your own. Funny how everyone
screamed about promiscuity, until gays and lesbians
said, "okay then, we want monogomous marriages." Instead
of promiscuity, committed, legal monogamy is now the
threat. Which is it?It's so ironic. Utah could not
become a state until the Mormon Church changed their
"definition of marriage," and dumped plural marriages.
The definition of marriage has been fluid throughout
history. The idea of love and marriage (fits together
like a horse and carriage...) is relatively new. This is
another one of those issues that puts our country's
citizens into the status of "busy bodies." We shouldn't
be able to vote on each others rights. I'm more of a fan
of civil unions for all. Civil Unions by the state, and
let the church handle marriage, in whatever way they see
fit.
It used to be illegal in the United States to marry
outside of your own race. This country has come a long
way but it seems like we still have a long way to go.
It used to be illegal to marry outside of your race in
this country. Should we all go back to those traditional
ways?
baconbit83 - Even when faced with bigotry and hate you
are man enough apologize for using a hurtful word, that
says a lot. Too bad so many people would rather embrace
intolerance and not celebrate love. You are very cool.
Dear Editor and my fellow Californians:Well we did it
California! Thanks to California Seniors and the Mormon
Church Proposition 8 passed and we were able to fend off
another attack on Traditional Marriage and Traditional
Family Values! But I don’t think we should stop there. I
have a 2 fold plan that would strengthen Traditional
Family Values:1. If a female becomes pregnant, the male
that fathered the baby MUST marry the baby’s mother. It
is time that we stop producing illegitimate children.
Children need a father and a mother, not 2 dads or 2
moms. Unlike Bristol Palin and Levi who think that
marriage should be THEIR CHOICE, I think it would be in
society’s best interest that they get married, like it
or not!2. We need to OUTLAW divorce. There is NOTHING
that destroys a traditional family more than DIVORCE!
Let’s face it, the divorce rate is over 50%. We CAN save
Traditional Marriage and keep Traditional Family Values
if we simply outlaw DIVORCE.Let’s change the California
Constitution to incorporate these 2 desperately needed
measures. I know the Mormon Church must have a slush
fund to help pass such a Proposition. Dr. Skip AyersLong

Happiness (for straight people)
#1 Bigot according to the dictionary: "a person
obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own
opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards
or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic
group) with hatred and intolerance" Bigotry goes beyond
race. I think it is funny that people yell about their
religious institutions being corrupted but MY religion
believes in the rights of gays and lesbians to marry but
MY religion isn't being infringed on by YOUR mandate
that they can't? Lets also not forget that the "we love
you but hate the act" is a LIE. There high Holy book
calls for the DEATH of homosexuals and that is what they
seek. Don't let their "we love you" rhetoric fool you.
Leviticus 20:13...if they hold that homosexuality is a
sin because of what the Bible says then they MUST also
hold that killing us is the answer...it says so in their
book. If they say differently then they are just
hypocrites because then they are saying they can pick
and choose what to follow out of their high holy book
but we can't.and if they say that was the old testament
and not the new jesus loving testament they LIE! Romans
1:32 calls for the deaths of those that is lists above
which the Christians state homosexuality is apart
(though others argue it is not). DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR
LIES THAT THEY LOVE! They murder in the name of their
god! Ask Matthew Sheppard!
MiloMakan--- I could agree wiith you --I was not married
in a church so I guess I have to form a religion that
recognizes my 36 years of marriage ---funny thing is
--in my religion all gays are welcome to marry.
At the age of 16 I was brutally attacked by fellow
students "Get used to it" said my principal. At the age
of 17 I had a gun pointed at my head and my family's
home was vandalized, at the age of 18 I was run off the
road and attacked, drug from my car. At the age of 28 I
am still a gay man - if you want to be a bigot and get
fired from your job for it then you need to "get used to
it" - I have paid my price now it is time to pay yours.
This is great! I hope this leads to real change for all
the loving, committed couples in America!
I don't understand how this infringes on Christian
religious issues when the practice of other religions is
tolerated and respect in America. One of the ten
commandments states "Do not worship false idols" yet
Americans are free to worship any Tom, Dick, or Vishnu
they please. I have a feeling that religious
sensitivities are only offended when it's something we
find repugnant, or alien. A majority can wrap their
minds around the need to feel the security of a god, but
still can't put themselves in the shoes of a homosexual.
neehao -I have been waiting to find the person in charge
of what is moral and what is not. Nice to meet you. I
was wondering why you changed your mind about women
wearing skirts above the ankle, cause you used to have
that as an immoral item. Or why did you change your mind
about different races marrying, cause you used to have
that as immoral. I have noticed that killing in war is
still not immoral, could you do something about that. I
really want to thank you for getting rid of that Eating
fish on Friday thing, it is nice to know that morals can
change if enough people get together and want to change
them. Do you have your latest list of what is immoral
and what is not. Sure could use that list, cause I am
real confused. Did fthat thing about "do unto others
...." thing get taken off the moral list--I kind of
liked that one, but I guess that would ruin your ability
to have certain rights for yourself and deny others--so
I guess I understand. I do have some spare time and
would love to be on the advisory committee of what is
moral and what is not. I have been married to the same
women for 36 years, raised 3 kids who are doing well in
life, and I think I could do well on your committee, if
the thing about thinking gays should have the same
rights as I do does not bother you.
I agree that gay marriage should not be banned, but I
think ALL legally recognized marriage should. Marriage
should be a spiritual matter, not a legal one. Gays and
lesbians are angry because they aren't getting their
slice of the pie, bcause the government rewards married
couples. THAT is what is wrong and should be changed.
People who are single are taxed at a much higher rate,
and don't have the same ability to share resources as
married people, so ALL single people are
disenfranchised, not just homosexuals. Divorced parents,
usually the men, pay child support and insurance that
they don't get to deduct and the ex doesn't have to
claim, and the ex still gets to claim the kids as
dependents. The gays are not the only ones getting the
short end of the stick here, but they're not reaching
out to other disenfranchised groups to have legal
marriage and it's entitlements redifined, the just want
their crack at milking an antiquated system that was set
up when families traditionally had only one working
parent and more children. They get no sympathy from me.
loved the article, but some of these comments scare me!
i attended the rally in san francisco with thousands of
other people who support LOVE. prop 8 should never have
been up to californian voters. you cant vote on someone
else's fundamental rights! this will be over-turned
undoubtedly, in time. we will look back at this moment
and realize how ridiculous this is! everyone should have
the same rights, if not, that's called discrimination!
we are out protesting because this is UNFAIR. we should
all stop involving religion, and just break it down to
what this is really about: giving everyone equal
rights!! we are no different - we have families, we have
jobs, and we have broken hearts right now because of
something we have no control over - and you shouldnt be
in charge of granting or taking away the rights of
anyone!!
God created each human the way He wished. Some are gay,
some are straight, and He loves them all. Who are any of
you to judge that one of His creations should have
lesser rights than you?
rvcattle, that's not really a fair comparison, no person
(or animal)
