Jesus would not bother going to church if he were alive, according to a
new survey.
Sixty per cent of the 931 adults interviewed believed the son of God
would not attend church services in modern times.
And almost half of all Christians (43 per cent) believed the church as an
organisation puts people off Christianity.
And, in a further jolt for church leaders, the survey found 71 per cent of
Christians only go to church a couple of times a year, on special
occasions, or not at all.
The survey was carried out on behalf of the religious division of
publishers Hodder and Stoughton.
It also found that 48 per cent of people aged 45-54 believed themselves
to be spiritual, compared with just 24 per cent of those aged 15-24.
