Circumcised
Gen 17:12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you,
every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of
any stranger [nekar #5236], which is not of thy seed.
Gen 17:13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money,
must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting
covenant.
Gen 17:23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his
house, and all that were bought with his money, every male [zakar, #2145, male Adamite]
among the men [ish, #376, male behemah] of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of
their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
Whereas
circumcision reminded men that they were circumcised in honor of an everlasting covenant,
the covenant for each male born in Abraham's house was different:
Jacob's descendants the
Israelites were heirs to the everlasting covenant God made with Abraham through Jacob:
Gen 17:7 And I will establish my
covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an
everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
1Ch 16:16 [Even of the covenant] which he made with
Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
1Ch 16:17 And hath confirmed the
same to Jacob for a law, [and] to Israel [for] an everlasting covenant,
Ishmael's descendants the
Arabs were blessed by God but were not heirs to this everlasting covenant:
Gen 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I
have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply
him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
Ish's descendants were
Noah and his descendants but were not part of the
Gen 9:16 And the bow shall be in
the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between
God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
Adamites were descendants
of Adam.
Esau's descendants the
Edomites were not heirs to the everlasting covenant because God hated him for marrying
Canaanite women:
Gen 28:6
When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a
wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not
take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
