U.S. jobs survey results–
most people agree with you!

Thank you for taking time to complete our U.S. jobs survey through Juno. Following are some highlights of the results to date.

	84% believe immigration should be reduced to protect jobs
	81% want to limit or stop guestworker programs
	84% believe helping jobless Americans is important government priority

OUR GOAL:
NumbersUSA’s goal is to reduce annual legal and illegal immigration to more traditional numerical levels by carrying out the immigration-reduction recommendations from two national commissions of the 1990s: the bi-partisan U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform and the the President's Council on Sustainable Development.

Please keep in mind that your goals do not have to be the same as our goals to use the NumbersUSA action tools. You may pick and choose those immigration-reduction actions that fit your own wishes.

Survey Questions, Answers and Results

QUESTION: Congress has set federal immigration policy to bring more than 1.2 million foreign workers and their families into the country next year. What best describes what you think should happen next year?

ANSWER: REDUCE IMMIGRATION

	27%---Curtail immigration -- by perhaps up to half -- during high unemployment.
	23%---Limit immigration to spouses, children and workers who take jobs that no American is available for.
	34%---Immigration should be cut as close to zero as possible.

ANSWER: KEEP IMMIGRATION HIGH

16%---The policy is good; immigrant workers bring fresh ideas, create new job

QUESTION: Congress is considering additional bills to create new guest foreign worker programs to respond to what proponents call a serious labor shortage in the U.S. What kind of guest worker program do you support?

ANSWER: NONE OR LIMITED

	42% -- Limit number who rotate only after thorough search for American workers fails.
	39% -- We don't need foreign guest workers; we have a labor surplus, not a shortage.

ANSWER: YES

	9% -- Allow all foreign workers who can find jobs; let them become U.S. citizens.
	10% -- Bring as many as needed by employers who say no Americans available; rotate home.

QUESTION: Congress is considering granting amnesty and permanent residency to 1-10 million illegal immigrants currently working and living in the U.S. What should be done about these foreign workers who lack authorization to be here?

ANSWER: NO

	48% -- Deport them.
	4% -- Leave them alone to continue working illegally in the underground economy.
	23% -- Make it increasingly difficult to find a job and cause steady voluntary self-deportation.

ANSWER: YES

25% -- Offer them U.S. citizenship

QUESTION: Around 18 million Americans currently cannot find a full-time job. What is your closest connection to this?

ANSWER: CLOSE

	16% -- I'm one of the 18 million.
	24% -- Somebody in my family is one.
	22% -- A close friend or neighbor is one.

ANSWER: NOT CLOSE

38% -- Nobody I really know is having trouble finding a job.

QUESTION: How important is it for the federal government to adopt policies that would make it more likely for those 18 million Americans to find a job?

ANSWER: IMPORTANT

	26% -- The top priority
	43% -- One of the five top priorities.
	17% -- Important but not in the top five.

ANSWER: CAN’T DO MUCH

14% -- The federal government can’t do much.
