Kel,
I am "forwarding" this letter, which is direct and "to the point," to others,
including, as you can see, many of our "elected officials" in and from
Minnesota. It is also going to the President of our country. It will be
interesting to see if a repsonse is forthcoming from any of them, and if they
realize the importance of the `bias' and leaving out of children's lives, an
important `element,' shall we say, "FATHERS!"
I would hope that many other men and dads also forward this letter to these
same people to let them know these issues are IMPORTANT!!
Sincerely,
George in St. Paul, MN.

Mr. President,
Your statement in the 4/26 USA Weekend insert to my local paper seems to have a
notable hole in it. You speak of an "all-out effort to engage everyday
citizens in meeting the real challenges that face today's youth." You mention:
Americorps volunteers, Presidents, mother, grandfather, grandmother, and
leaders from communities, religious and service organizations, business and
government. It is clear from this publication and others I have read that a
major focus of this effort is to encourage a mentorship program, "plans to link
caring adults with youngsters who need them."
I heard you on a radio ad, talking about how being a father is the hardest job
you have. An editorial in my local paper describes the leading of the summit
in this way, "Colin Powell has undertaken a new task which, by comparison,
makes handling the presidency look easy."
And yet you defy the common DAD. Your administration uses dads as political
material to be traded for votes. Your "Human Services" leadership has a
vendetta against dads. You, by your own free will and with full knowledge,
reduce fathers to cash machines. And you make the message clear to the kids
"All your dad is good for is to pay your mom." You have an entire nationwide
organization who devote themselves to accomplishing this agenda.
Your willingness to support this organization even when they resort to criminal
methods to more easily and quickly "bash dads" exposes your real goals. You
talk "pro-kid." But your actions deny the obvious facts of the divorce
era:That kids who grow up missing either parent are dealt a blow that is
difficult to recover from. Now we have fatherless girls getting pregnant and
raising a generation of children who not only are missing their fathers, but
whose mothers grew up without fathers as well. How long will you let the
gender bias of your child support enforcement industry blind you to the
destruction they do to the American family?
Give the next generation of American children the gift of a family. Blow the
whistle on those who run their "dad bashing agenda" under the official cover of
child support enforcement. Failure to do so is to thumb your nose at your own
news grabbing efforts to supposedly "give kids a chance."
"We can solve our problems if we come together and lift each other up."
..... Bill Clinton
"Beating dads down can only be viewed as contempt for the family. Bashing the
family cannot solve the social problems we face today. If our leaders cannot
face such a basic concept, then those that claim to govern must be convicted of
their crimes and removed from power."
