Vista
My first impressions of Vista. In order to get an objective fresh start on Vista, even though I had used it at Microsoft seminars, I bought a new laptop with Vista already installed so that all the dozens of patches which had been loaded on my Windows XP laptop wouldn't interfere with the performance. It took a half hour to "set up", which made me suspicious--why was it not ALREADY "set up"? Of ALL the things Microsoft and laptop makers SHOULD be able to do today is to Make a computer which ALREADY KNOWS all the questions it asks which most of us DON'T know. It can't figure out what the time zone is? SURE IT CAN. It's got to ask me what my name is before I can ust my OWN computer. OF COURSE NOT. So we were not off to a good start. The nice music and impressive graphics weren't enough to compensate for what I sensed was another struggle with re-learning how computers work. Not being able to locate that "computer" icon which I had finally gotten used to using in order to do a quick check of the drives didn't help at all. What finally ENRAGED me and convinced me that Microsoft's entire agenda is to cripple the amazing compute power we MIGHT have had it not been for Windoze.
